In 1991, Bernardo Campos developed the first Kiela software and registered it with the Directorate of Spectacles Property Rights, in Lisbon.

In 1998,, after the publication of his book “Kiela - A game of African origin, B.Campos registered it in Angola.

The name Kiela and the board design are registered with author property rights in the name of Bernardo Campos, in about 18 countries in the world, including South Africa, European Union and the United States of America.

The name Kiela has been accepted as a trade mark name of products that contribute for the promotion of this important game of Africa.
